appreciated depends in large degree upon human responses. It does little good to mouth “Praise God” and to prattle on about God’s deity unless our own lives are marked by conspicuous evidence of his character. God’s holiness is displayed in the righteousness of his children’s lives. If we live unrighteous lives, his character is profaned (see Amos 2:7). His holiness is also displayed in his ability to deliver and redeem. An unrepentant, judged Israel was tempted to call God unjust, unfair and impotent
